Sewio Networks is a manufacturer of a real-time location system (RTLS) for indoor location tracking used by companies in the intralogistics, retail, sports, entertainment, and livestock industries. Sewio's system is based on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology - which offers high capacity for discrete data transmission and is resistant to interference - and comes with RTLS Studio software, remote management and visualisation. The company supplies its products to markets such as the US, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the Czech Republic. Major customers include Volkswagen, Budvar, Pirelli and Škoda.
“At Sewio, we are proud of not only the technology we have developed, but of the relationships we have built with our partners and end users across the globe,” said Milan Simek, CEO, Sewio. “As we enter this new journey with HID, we are excited to expand our reach by helping even more customers generate value through enhanced, real-time visibility of their operations,” adds.
“With Sewio’s technology and expertise, we are in a better position to help automotive and manufacturing customers enhance their smart factory and warehouse operations,” said Björn Lidefelt, EVP and Head of HID.

Sewio was officially founded in 2014. According to one of the founders, Ľubomír Mráz, everything was not rosy at first. They were not ready for real business and everything they needed in the field of law and economics gradually came to them in the course of business. Jihomoravské inovační centrum (JIC) and the financial support and shared know-how of Y Soft helped them in the beginning.
Dean Vladimír Aubrecht considers Sewio's success an exemplary demonstration of diligence, determination and courage. "I am always extremely pleased when I hear about significant achievements of our students or graduates. I congratulate the management of Sewio for their tremendous success in a fierce competitive battle."
We wrote about how difficult it was to create a product from a prototype and how Milan Šimek and Ľubomir Mráz stumbled upon each other during their scientific research here. Sewio gradually built up its credit and in 2018, the company was ranked in the Forbes Startup Top 10 with its precise indoor location. In the same year, Sewio, along with FEKT, won the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic award in the Partnership category.
