At Gaudeamus, Brno University of Technology will present all its components, including eight faculties and three university institutes, demonstrating that it is an ideal choice not only for those interested in technology but also for students interested in sciences, economics, and arts.
The university will be represented by current students, who best understand studying and life at BUT. They will answer all questions related to study programs, applications, and admissions, as well as inquiries about facilities, sports, or leisure activities at BUT.
"For high school students, the opportunity to talk with university students is crucial when choosing a university. We see this reflected in the growing number of visitors to educational fairs and other events offering this experience to applicants. At Gaudeamus, we aim to provide not only information about studying but also insights into other meaningful activities they can pursue while at university,” said BUT coordinator Helena Sadílková.
Robots, formula and 3D printing
BUT will also participate in the side program Science for Life, showcasing both scientific and student projects developed at the university. Visitors can interact with a robotic bartender, explore the workshop of space engineers, or try controlling a robotic arm. A ride in a student-built formula car will also be a highlight.
In the chill-out zone, visitors can play digital game prototypes developed by BUT students on arcade cabinets or use special glasses to experience the impact of fatigue on a person.
The FabLab University workshop, a popular feature, will reveal what happens when creativity, craftsmanship, and modern technology come together. High school students will get to try using 3D printers, a cutting plotter, or a CNC milling machine.
Representatives from BUT will provide prospective students with the latest information about the study offerings and important dates through exhibitor lectures, held daily from 10:25–10:45 in Hall A in Pavilion V. Students will also share their academic and work experiences gained through studying at Brno University of Technology.
New BUT exhibition
BUT will unveil its new custom exhibition at the fair, designed by architect Svatopluk Sládeček and designer Filip Dědic. “Both authors work at the Faculty of Architecture. They know the university well and thus managed to brilliantly interpret our vision. Their design reflects modernity, openness, and hospitality, highlighting our university's prestige,” Sadílková added. The exhibition, which the university plans to reuse, was produced by local suppliers using primarily recyclable materials for sustainability.
Gaudeamus celebrates 30 years
The Gaudeamus Brno, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has also received the patronage of BUT Rector Ladislav Janíček. Brno University of Technology played a crucial role in the event’s founding, as the idea for the fair came from Jan Honzík, a professor at the Faculty of Information Technology.
The fair will feature 433 universities and educational institutions from both domestic and international locations. High school students attending the largest post-secondary education event can choose from over ten thousand study programs and receive comprehensive information and guidance.
Brno University of Technology also showcased its study programs at the Gaudeamus in Nitra and Bratislava. After the Brno fair, VUT will continue to reach out to high school students at Gaudeamus in Prague, which will take place from January 21 to 23, 2025.
Prospective students of Brno University of Technology can also visit open days at individual faculties and departments. Popular study programs include Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Economics, Fine Arts, Electronics and Communication Technology, and Chemistry for Medical Applications.
