The Board constitutes an advisory body to aid the Dean of the Faculty, and its purpose rests in discussing science, research, and teaching-related issues. The Board approves draft study programs; confirms members of Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral state examination boards; controls the composition of doctoral thesis defense boards; discusses and examines long-term goals regarding instruction, research, development, and other relevant creative activities; and participates in procedures for the appointment of full and associate professors, in the manner set forth by Act No. 111/1998 Coll.

The Board consists of experts in the fields or subjects established at the Faculty; scientists and researchers from outside the FEEC account for not less than a third of the members. The SB generally acts as provided for in the Rules of Procedure of the Scientific Board of the FEEC.
